Alston & Bird intellectual property (IP) partners Jason Cooper, Chris Douglas, and Yuri Mikulka, have been named leading intellectual property strategists by Intellectual Asset Management in its 2022 issue of the IAM Strategy 300 Global Leaders guide.
IAM notes that, “A slot in the 300 is the mark of a professional whose approach to intellectual property is regarded by peers as truly strategic in nature.”
Cooper, co-chair of Alston & Bird’s Intellectual Property Practice, focuses his practice on mechanical, manufacturing, and medical device technologies. He manages patent portfolios and prepares and prosecutes patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Douglas, a partner in Alston & Bird’s Patent Prosecution, Counseling & Review Practice, represents both petitioners and patent owners in post-grant proceedings while also maintaining a robust pre-grant patent prosecution practice.
As lead for the Consumer Technology team and a member of Alston & Bird’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group, Mikulka represents clients in court actions, arbitrations, and pre-suit disputes nationwide. She focuses her practice on litigation involving patent and trademark infringement, and trade secret misappropriation and advises clients worldwide on IP issues.
This award is the most recent recognition for this trio, but they were each also named to the 2021 edition of “IAM Strategy 300: The World’s Leading IP Strategists”, a list on which Cooper has sat since 2017. Cooper was also named an “IP Star” in Managing Intellectual Property’s 2021 rankings.
Douglas has been consistently ranked since 2018 by patent research firm Patexia Inc. as among the most active and best-performing attorneys representing both petitioners and patent owners and co-edited the USPTO Post-Grant Trials Handbook.
For three consecutive years, Mikulka has been recognized as one of the most influential people in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Business Journal. She was also named a 2021 legal “visionary” in the “Business of Law: Trends, Updates, Visionaries & In-House Counsel Leadership Awards Magazine” published by the Los Angeles Times and honored as one of California’s “Top Trade Secrets Lawyers” in 2020 by the Daily Journal.
