For the second year in a row, the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP) has honored Alston & Bird with its annual “Gold Award for Pro Bono Service” for Dallas law firms with fewer than 50 lawyers.
Heather Barger, Alston & Bird senior associate and a member of the firm’s Litigation & Trial Practice Group, and Brady Cox, senior associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group, accepted the award on behalf of the Dallas office.
The award reflects Alston & Bird’s tradition and longstanding commitment to pro bono, public interest, and community service work in Dallas. In 2018, the firm’s attorneys dedicated 4,200 hours to several pro bono causes, including staffing DVAP clinics and handling a number of consumer, family, and other matters, as well as representing asylum seekers, advising nonprofits, and advancing other initiatives.
A joint initiative of the Dallas Bar Association and Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, DVAP is dedicated to increasing and enhancing pro bono legal services to the poor in Dallas through the recruitment, training, and support of volunteer attorneys.
