This year, Alston & Bird is proud to establish the Bob Dole Veteran’s Awards, presented to Alston & Bird veterans, military family members, attorneys, employees, or alumni for extraordinary dedication to military service members or veterans, their families, and their communities. The name of the award pays tribute to Senator Bob Dole, a highly decorated veteran, accomplished public servant, leading figure in Congress, and beloved member of the Alston & Bird family.
The first Dole Awards honored U.S. Air Force Captain Nathan D. Tyre, an associate in our Financial Services & Products Group, and retired U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Colonel Thomas F. Walsh III, husband of Financial Partner and Tax Area Coordinator, Kendall Houghton.
We were honored to have retired General Mark A. Milley speak at the event held internally at Alston & Bird’s offices. General Milley served as the 20th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the nation’s highest-ranking military officer and the principal military adviser to the President, Secretary of Defense, and National Security Council.
We are also pleased that Senator Elizabeth Dole – wife of Senator Bob Dole, an accomplished public servant, and a dear friend to Alston & Bird – was present for the event as well.
