Alston & Bird recently held its second annual Bob Dole Veterans Awards, presented to veterans at the firm, military family members, attorneys, employees, and alumni for extraordinary dedication to service members or veterans, their families, and their communities. The name of the award pays tribute to Senator Bob Dole, a highly decorated veteran, accomplished public servant, leading figure in Congress, and beloved member of the Alston & Bird family.
This year’s Dole Awards honored Angie Burnette, counsel in the Health Care & Policy Group, and John Paluska, vice president and assistant treasurer at Hilton Grand Vacations Inc. The event also included remarks from retired Navy Captain Steve Jordon, executive director of The Veterans Consortium.
Senator Dole was a beloved member of the Alston & Bird family who was based in the Washington, D.C. office from 2003 until his passing in 2021. A highly decorated veteran who was severely wounded during World War II, he went on to enjoy a storied public service career. He spent many years as a leading figure in Congress and was a driving force behind the creation of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., among countless other accomplishments.
