Alston & Bird achieved a sweep of complete victories for client Amperex Technology in four inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). The PTAB’s Final Written Decisions determined that all challenged claims of four patents owned by Maxell Ltd. related to battery technologies were unpatentable and invalidated all challenged claims. Maxell had previously sued Amperex for patent infringement in the Western District of Texas and had an upcoming trial set for May 2023 in Waco, Texas.
Representing Amperex Technology in the inter partes review proceedings are Alston & Bird partners Chris Douglas and Brady Cox, associates Miranda Sooter and Katie Burkhart, and paralegal Stacy Gunder in the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group.
The IPR proceedings included IPR Nos. 2021-01440, -01441, -01442, and -01443.
