Alston & Bird has been honored by the Georgia Asylum & Immigration Network (GAIN) for its leadership providing pro bono immigration legal services to victims of crime and persecution.
The firm was honored with GAIN’s “Law Firm of the Year” award for its ongoing loyalty and advocacy of immigration issues, policies, and clients locally and nationally. Since GAIN’s inception in 2005, Alston & Bird has taken on more pro bono cases for the organization than any other law firm, successfully representing hundreds of clients.
Accepting the award on Alston & Bird’s behalf at GAIN’s “Go Formal for Freedom Gala” was Aaron Block, partner in the firm’s Products Liability Practice, and Cheryl Naja, director of Pro Bono and Community Service. Block serves on GAIN’s board of directors, and Naja serves as co-chair of the group’s advisory board.
The Georgia Asylum & Immigration Network addresses the need for immigrant access to quality legal assistance through a dual approach of offering direct representation and matching cases with volunteer attorneys in the metro Atlanta area.
