Alston & Bird continues to grow its Washington, D.C., office by adding Shannon Campagna as senior policy advisor on the firm’s Legislative & Public Policy Team. She is the sixth high-level addition to the office in the past year.
Campagna most recently served as director of federal government affairs at Mars Inc., where she led a policy team focused on a wide array of issues, including tax, commodities, sustainability, foreign aid, food safety, trade and marketing.
“Shannon is a seasoned government and political affairs executive,” said Bob Jones, Alston & Bird partner and leader of the firm’s Legislative & Public Policy Team. “Shannon was in the trenches during the Affordable Care Act and knows well how corporate America is impacted by complex legislation. Her experience with top trade associations, as well as Fortune 50 public and large privately held companies, will help our clients here in D.C. and nationally see around corners to advocate for favorable legislative, public policy and regulatory results on a wide array of issues including, health care, tax, trade, food and agriculture, immigration, infrastructure and transportation.”
Former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole, who serves as Alston & Bird special counsel, added: “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Shannon in years past and am excited that our clients will now benefit from her knowledge and experience.”
Campagna is the latest addition to Alston & Bird’s growing Washington office. Last year, the firm welcomed partner Dominic DeMatties, former U.S. Treasury Department attorney; partner Leslie Overton, previously a senior U.S. Justice Department antitrust official; partner Jackie Baratian, a past senior counsel in the Office of Inspector General at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; partner Tom Feddo, a former official in Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control; and counsel Ted Schroeder, a former senior aide to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee.
Alston & Bird’s Legislative & Public Policy Team advises and works with clients in a bipartisan, bicameral manner on key issues at the intersection of business and public policy objectives. Spearheading the group are former Congressional leaders – Sen. Dole (R-KS) and Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-ND) – supported by a full-service team of lawyers and professionals who offer client services built on decades of experience at the highest levels of Washington policymaking.
