T. Austin Weatherly is an associate on Alston & Bird’s Intellectual Property Litigation – Trademark & Copyright Team. Before joining the firm, Austin served as a judicial intern for the Hon. Richard W. Story in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and externed at the ACLU of Georgia and The Coca-Cola Company. For his internship and externship contributions, Austin was awarded the Clinical Legal Education Association’s Outstanding Externship Student Award.
Austin received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia, where he was a member of the Davenport-Benham Black Law Students Association and served on the editorial and executive boards of the Journal of Intellectual Property Law. Before law school, Austin attended New York University, where he studied the intersection of arts, communications, and business. After graduating with his bachelor’s, Austin worked in the film and television industry until deciding to pursue a legal career.
