Ben F. Johnson III is the retired Managing Partner of Alston & Bird, serving as Managing Partner from 1997 to 2008, after a career as a commercial litigator that began in 1971. He is the immediate past Chairman of Invesco, Ltd., a Standard & Poor’s 500 company listed on the New York Stock Exchange and a leading independent global investment management company operating in more than 20 countries with approximately $1.7 trillion in assets under management. He served on the Invesco Board from 2009 to 2019. He is past Chair of the Board of Trustees of Emory University, having served on the board for 18 years and as Chair from 2000 to 2013. He recently completed his 33-year service as Chair of the Governing Board of Woodward Academy, one of America’s largest independent schools, and continues to serve on that Board. He is the past chair and member of the Board of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, serves on the Board of the Carter Center, and is a Chair of the Charles Loridans Foundation. In September 2010, The American Lawyer awarded him its second Law Firm Distinguished Leader Award in its Lifetime Achievers 2010 issue. Emory University awarded him a Doctor of Laws degree in 2014.
