- Designing and leading the execution of enterprise-wide data protection compliance and governance programs, including enterprise programs to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and U.S. government privacy and cybersecurity requirements.
- Drafting and negotiating technology, data protection, and data transfer agreements, including developing negotiation playbooks and training legal and contracting personnel.
- Assisting companies to expand their technology into new markets, including negotiating technology agreements in foreign languages with prospective partners.
- Structuring, managing, and assisting international discovery in connection with U.S. court or regulatory proceedings, both within the U.S. and onsite abroad.
- Advising on operations-critical privacy, data protection, and security issues, such as developing the privacy architecture surrounding new products, services, or campaigns.

Daniel Felz leverages extensive international experience to advise clients on global privacy, cybersecurity, technology, and adversarial matters.
After graduating Order of the Coif from law school, Dan was an assistant professor of law at the University of Mainz School of Law in Germany. His teaching focused on cross-border litigation and transactions. Dan also wrote extensively on U.S. and German privacy law, including publishing a 600-page treatise in German on multijurisdictional class action litigation. Dan clerked for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Georgia, the 68th Judicial District Court of Dallas County, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Dan often practices out of Alston & Bird’s Brussels office, where the firm’s EU Privacy, Cyber & Data Strategy Group is headquartered. He has presented U.S. privacy legislation to German privacy regulators as part of a limited series of “Mainz Presentations on Security and Information Law” at the invitation of the University of Mainz School of Law and the data protection commissioner of the German state of Rheinland-Pfalz. Dan has also presented clients’ EU cybersecurity programs to U.S. financial regulators.

Dan is fluent in German, an intermediate French speaker, and a beginner in Spanish and Arabic.
