CMS announced 11 new codes that would be covered as Medicare telehealth services—effective immediately, and for the duration of the COVID-19 public health emergency. The changes follow two important rules CMS published in the spring of 2020 in response to the pandemic. These new federal rules have opened up the legal landscape for telehealth to expand faster than ever, and states are following suit.
