Alston & Bird announced today that Devon Beane has joined the firm as a partner in the IP Litigation Group, bolstering its Chicago presence.
“A standout litigator who thrives in high-stakes, complex disputes, Devon brings exceptional firepower to our practice,” said Scott Stevens, Alston & Bird partner and co-chair of the Intellectual Property Litigation Group. “Her impressive track record, strategic mindset, and razor-sharp focus on client success make her a valuable fit for both our team and our firm.”
Devon has led litigation teams in federal courts across the country, as well as before the International Trade Commission, Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and Federal Circuit. Her work spans technologies in the rapidly evolving medical devices and diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, and wireless telecommunications sectors.
“I’m proud to join Alston & Bird’s nationally acclaimed intellectual property team, which I have had the pleasure of working alongside for several years now and offers exceptional client service in a collaborative environment,” said Devon. “It’s also exciting to help bring Alston & Bird’s exceptional IP group to Chicago and to join the growing team here, which is positioned to deliver the very best service to sophisticated clients as they navigate nuanced challenges and opportunities.”
With Devon’s arrival, Alston & Bird has nearly doubled the number of attorneys in its burgeoning Chicago office over the last year. The firm’s Midwest expansion parallels the increasing need for intellectual property litigators in the region and complements the notable additions of West Coast IP partners Michelle Clark in San Francisco and Erik Carlson, Edward Poplawski, Olivia Kim, and Theresa Conduah in Los Angeles and Century City.
Alston & Bird’s team of more than 80 intellectual property litigation lawyers assists clients as both plaintiffs and defendants in intellectual property matters. The team has litigated IP disputes in jurisdictions throughout the country, including particularly notable experience before the Federal Circuit and ITC. In compiling a 100% bench trial win rate in 2024–2025, our heavyweight IP litigators have delivered three KO defense victories in jury trials in the demanding confines of the Eastern District of Texas. These attorneys also regularly partner with attorneys from Alston & Bird’s Patents Group to coordinate post-grant review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
