Alston & Bird has expanded its finance capabilities with the arrival of Robin Regan as counsel in the firm’s New York office.
Focusing her practice on debt and equity financings, Regan represents a broad range of clients – including banks, hedge funds, real estate investment trusts and funds, and other capital market participants – in all aspects of financing associated with acquiring, leveraging, repositioning, and disposing of financial assets.
Regan began her career as a structured finance and securitization attorney at Thacher Proffitt & Wood LLP and has spent almost 10 years in private practice, including most recently at Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP. She also served for seven years as head of the commercial real estate (CRE) legal group at Kroll Bond Rating Agency. As the group’s lead legal analyst, she evaluated more than 350 commercial mortgage-backed securities transactions and other deals involving complex commercial real estate, hybrid investments, and CRE-collateralized loan obligations.
“We’re delighted to welcome Robin to our growing team,” said Shanell Cramer, Alston & Bird partner and co-chair of its Finance Group. “Her skill set and capabilities related to repurchase and warehouse facilities, syndicated lines of credit, and securitizations and other structured finance arrangements complement our distinctive capabilities in meeting the end-to-end financing needs of our clients in the U.S. and abroad.”
Regan is the latest prominent finance practitioner to join Alston & Bird in New York. She follows the arrival of partner Katrina Llanes earlier in the year; partners David Hoyt, Kenneth Rothenberg, and Russell Chiappetta, who joined as part of a five-member finance team from Andrews Kurth in 2018; and partner Paul Hespel, who arrived from Pepper Hamilton LLP in 2017.
Alston & Bird’s Finance Group is the firm’s largest transactional practice, growing from 53 lawyers in 2013 to 100 lawyers in 2019.
