Among the achievements for which Houghton was recognized was her success as co-chair of UPPO’s Government Relations and Advocacy Committee, a position she held for several years, as well as her service as UPPO’s primary representative and spokesperson during the multiyear drafting of the 2016 Revised Uniform Unclaimed Property Act.
Coalson and Millar each received UPPO’s Award of Merit in recognition for their exceptional support of UPPO. Coalson was recognized for his leadership in UPPO’s Government Relations and Advocacy Committing and for educating the Uniform Law Commission’s (ULC) Drafting Committee and meeting participants on public policy and legal considerations that underlay the drafting process, in addition to his eloquent representation of holders’ perspectives in drafting the 2016 Uniform Unclaimed Property Act. Millar was recognized for his three-year role as the American Bar Association's official liaison to the ULC Drafting Committee to revise the Uniform Unclaimed Property Act in which he acted as the ABA’s official advisor and spokesperson to the ULC.
Alston & Bird also was previously honored by UPPO with Awards of Merit in 2016 and 2015.
