Colin Kelly, partner in the firm’s Products Liability and Litigation & Trial Practice Groups, was quoted in a Law360 article titled “GM Deal Shows Feds' Push to Police Internal Policies.”
The article discussed the federal government’s requirement that General Motors Co. retrain employees previously instructed to avoid using terms such as “defect” and “safety-related,” which, according to the article, is a sign that regulators are looking to insert themselves into new areas of company policy.
"One of the most problematic aspects of advising companies on product liability issues is that during internal cause and origin investigations, employees often make assumptions or conclusions based on limited or sometimes inaccurate information that can be later taken out of context," Kelly said.
