Underscoring its reputation as one of Fortune magazine’s best companies – and best law firms – to work for in the United States, the Atlanta office of the national law firm
Alston & Bird LLP will open a child-care center for all of its employees’ children.
The "A+B Children’s Campus" child-care center, located at 1073 West Peachtree Street, will open on Monday, October 22, 2001 with an initial enrollment of 51 children.
Commenting on the program, Alston & Bird managing partner Ben F. Johnson III stated, "We feel that The Children’s Campus embodies our concern for our employees and their families. Childcare is at the top of the list of our employees’ quality of life issues. Establishing a custom-designed child-care center has been one of our longstanding goals; we feel that it is particularly timely now, as in view of current events, parents and children need the reassurance of being in closer contact than ever before."
Alston & Bird has contracted Bright Horizons Family Solutions, a leading national child-care firm, to run the program. The Center Director is John Hayes, who holds a masters degree in Early Childhood Education and most recently served as director of
Bright Horizon’s First Union Childcare Center in Charlotte, NC. "The Children’s Campus" offers full-time and part-time programs, as well as backup/emergency and school age programs; it will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Recently, Alston & Bird was ranked #3 among 177 firms in The American Lawyer’s annual nationwide survey of the best law firms in the country to work, the only firm to have placed in the top five in the large law firm category for each of the last three years. Earlier this year Alston & Bird was named by Fortune, magazine as one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For" for the second consecutive year. Ranked #24 in the magazine’s annual survey, the firm moved up 12 positions from the previous year.
