Maureen Gorsen presented "An Insider’s View of the California Green Chemistry Program" during this lecture hosted by the Louisiana State University (LSU) Cain Department of Chemical Engineering. In the fall of 2008, the California Environmental Protection Agency developed its Green Chemistry Initiative, a six-point program with the goal of fundamentally transforming global consumer product manufacturing. Thus far, only two of the six program points have been enacted into law, but some observers think that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will seek to solidify his green chemistry legacy and lead the passage of the remaining four initiatives during his final term in office. Maureen introduced the California Green Chemistry Program and described how it might impact young chemists and chemical engineers.
